I love going down the home decor aisles in Costco and Sam's club. You never know what kind of goodies they have in stock.

When I saw this tray at Costco, I kept walking past it telling myself "you don't need this." But I loved it so much that after passing by it for the fifth time I finally put it in my cart.


Just.look.at.it! It has a glass bottom which is oh so pretty!!

Sam's club had a two pack of pillows for less than $12.00! I keep them on my living room couch, but it was to dark in there to take a good photo.

Here's a close up. They are quilted in a silkish fabric.

Just to compare, Pottery Barn has a quilted pillow cover for $55.00, just the cover people! The insert is $16.00. Now Pottery Barn's are quilted on both sides, where mine are only quilted on one side. However, two PB pillows and inserts=$110.00, Sam's club two pillows under $12.00, I can live with the difference!

butterflies

I found this butterfly print at Goodwill. My son begged me not to get it. He thought it was so ugly. "Just wait" I told him. "I'm going to fix it up."

I paid $4.99 for it, which actually seemed a little high given the damage. I thought that the matte was water damaged. But when I brought it home and took it apart it turns out it was wax on the matte. How did that happen?! I scraped the wax off with my fingernail.

I spray painted the matte white and the frame black and rubbed a little brown craft paint on the frame too.

Here's a close up of the frame.

She looks soooo much better now. The black frame brings out the black on the butterflies and the white matte allows the colors of the butterflies to pop. The only bad thing is I accidentally broke the glass and it's an unusual size so now I have to get a new piece of glass cut for it.

big guy & little guy

The big guy started school this week. Although he had been dreading it, he's had a great week. He has a wonderful teacher and he's enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones. He's having fun in science learning about fossils

The little guy is doing good too. This week he is making very loud, happy shrieks. I guess he has to make up for the quiet in the house!

Duck Party

This morning I received and email from Ms. Beth our dear neighbor in Baton Rouge. She thought that the boys would enjoy seeing who stopped by for a visit. That is our old house in the background. I think the new owners just moved in last week. Which explains the sadness of the grass and beds. Hope they love the house as much as we did. I wish I had brought my water fountain with us though! It always would get clogged but it sure would have made a wonderful planter here at the new house.

The boys loved seeing the duck party! Everyday on the way to school we would pass a house that had a pond where ALL the ducks would hang out in the morning. The boys coined it as The Duck Party. They always asked why the ducks never partied by us! Thanx for sharing Ms.Beth!

I love looking at all the beach style decorating I see in blogland. It's a relaxing, fresh type of decor. But since I live in the desert it would look a little off to have a full out beach style room in my house. So I have little touches. Come along and I'll show you.


This sign hangs in my son's bathroom. The theme in the bathroom is surfing monkey's.

My Dad gave me this metal seahorse for my birthday many years ago. I love it. We were shopping together at an antique fair in California when he got it for me.

I have this bubbled glass hurricane filled with shells in my office. I got the rope balls recently from Walmart, 3 for $9.99.

Another bubbled glass piece holds sea glass, shells and special rocks that we've picked up from different beaches over the years.

The driftwood style candle holder I made recently. It started as a thrift store find. You can read about the make over here. The large, white shell is from a local antique mall.

We made it!

Well today is day number two of kindergarten. The start was fine but the leaving was heartbreaking. Oldest has not cried at being left at school since he was 2. So of course since he started the water works I started the water works. Felt like a fool but then felt better when I saw another mommy out in the hallway just bawling her eyes out. Not better because she was just a bawling but better because I was not the only one.

Spent the morning hanging out with Littliest. We went to HobLob and then to Target because well as some of you may know they have Pizza Hut there and my boys figured that out sometime last week so now they think it is just awesome to go and have lunch at Target. Who knew! We have done it a total of twice now. For less than $6 I can feed two people with a personal pan pizza,bread sticks and a drink. Ya can't beat it for a nice treat that is as long as they are in the sharing kind of mood. After that we returned something at HomeGoods and then waited in line for Oldest.

The first words out of his mouth when he got in the mini were "Mom I had a great day and did you know that raccoons are nocturnal animals!?". It was a Noggin moment and just melted my heart. I knew he would have a great day but it was rough at first.

So here is to all those mommies who are starting on day # 2 as well! Cheers we made it! Now just two weeks till Littliest is at school and this mama gets some M E time! Have a good one ya'll!

Busy Busy Busy

That is what we have been since abt Wed around here. I FINALLY kicked myself into gear and started sewing again. I do enjoy it immensely but when there is so much other fun stuff to be doing like decorating the house I have a hard time sitting down and sewing. It is a catch 22 though. Sewing allows me to feed my insatiable addiction to HobLob and HomeGoods so I knew if I wanted to implement any of my wishful thinkings I needed to get it together. This evening I started listing a bunch of new Spittle bibs and as it turns out that is all it took to drive more traffic to my little Etsy shop! In 30 minutes of listing I already have a sale. Thank you!

This is my absolute fave right now! I so wish I had a lil' girlie girl who could wear it.

This fabric worked out nicely as well. I love the green background and who doesn't love um a sock monkey!

This one makes me sad. It is my very last bib...last anything I have in this fabric. It is called Summer In The City and I LOVE it. It is no longer in production and ya can't find it anywhere. I look every now and then but no luck.

So other than sewing, Open House, and everyday stuff. the fam has just been hanging out. Today The Hubster and I split up. He took Oldest and I Littliest. Littliest and I had fun shopping at the other HomeGoods...not really, they are not all the same in the least...then to Sephora for my Bare Minerals which I buy abt every 4-5 months. I just purchase the starter kit so I can get all new brushes. We then went to a place called Sam & Moon Home. It had some wonderful items but a bit pricey. Some you could get at HobLob so why bother. I did get a set of initial coasters, an initial garden flag and a fleur de leis garden flag holder. I had been wanting the flag forever and was excited to find it for just $11!

This evening after listing some things in my Etsy shop I did a little window shopping. I found this on the local yard sale site for just $50!

It is a bit dated but I saw somewhere in blogland where somebody redid a hutch and took off the moldings on the doors and it came back thru but was really pretty. I wish I knew who that was. I emailed the gal for more pics of the doors to see if it would be even possible. $50 is a good deal I think. I am actually on the hunt for a secretary that can turn into a china cabinet but so far I can not get the one I want for any less than $150.

I also saw this listing. Isn't it great! All they are asking is $25 OBO!! I would sooo love to have this for my sewing/crafty room. I can see it now distressed in a white or green or robins egg blue.
So what do you think of those two pieces!? Should I spend my bib money on um and if so how should I finish um off? Would love to hear any suggestions!

Well it is almost midnight and my eyes are blurring up. A true sign of too much computer time. That or I seriously need glasses ya'll. Probably a little of both. Have a good one and I will let ya know if I score either of those pieces! The site shuts down on Sundays so it usually put s a damper on any wheeling and dealing till Monday and with Kindergarten starting on Monday I may miss out.

baby shower

Back in May my dear friends Babette and Gina threw a baby shower for me. They did such an incredible job! It was a wonderful day that I'll never forget.


On the left is Babette, the shower was held in her gorgeous home. Next to her is our friend Sarah who just gave birth to her little girl a week ago today.

The other wonderful host, Gina with baby Levi.

Since we are adopting Levi he got to be at his own shower! It was wonderful getting to share him with my friends and watch them love on him.

My friends know I love to scrapbook, so they set up a scrapbook table and had everyone make one baby page.

When everyone was done they put them into a baby scrapbook and I have a whole book that I just need to add pictures to.

It was a great idea and so much fun. Those that had never scrapbooked were a little intimidated at first, but they got the hang of it.

This game was so much fun. It started with diapers labeled A-H, then.......

NO, it's not what you think!!!!! Inside each diaper was a different kind of melted candy bar.

Each guest had to try and identify which kind of candy bar was inside.

It was a strange and hilarious game.

I loved it! I highly recommend playing it at your next baby shower.

The rooms were decorated with bunches of green and blue balloons.

So cute!

Beautiful flowers in a blue, glass vase. Next to the table is my boyfriend. HUH?! Babette makes these Dutch meat pockets and they are my new favorite food. The first time I tried them I told her I would marry them if I could, so ever since we've called them "my boyfriends."

Look at this feather trimmed table runner, too cute!

The table was so lovely and everything was so good!

It's a boy confetti and napkins that matched the balloons.

Here I am enjoying it all. Notice the blue baby bottle filled with green and blue peanut M&M's.
