Vintage Style Easter Tree

Last Spring I bought these colored eggs to fill my apothecary jars. I shoved all the pretty colors toward the front of the jars, but there were some eggs that were really ugly. So this year I decided to cover up some of the icky looking eggs.

This is my favorite. I cut pages from a yellowed book into strips and used Mod Podge to adher it to the egg. LOVE IT!

I used the same technique on this one except instead of a book I cut a scrapbook page into strips. This one is pretty cool too!

I covered this egg with twine. If you look carefully you can see a bit of neon yellow peaking through. I probably should have painted the egg first, but whatever!

This time I took some brown "butcher" type paper and ripped it into circles. I got the circles wet and then stuck them to the egg and then covered the whole thing with Mod Podge. When it was dry I used some distress ink on it.

This egg is covered in tissue paper (using Mod Podge again). I then had to paint the tissue white because the ugly egg color was showing through. Once the paint was dry I used distress ink to highlight the crinkles.

This egg looks a little weird, but I thought I'd show it to you anyway. I covered the egg with spackle, once dry I spray painted it brown. When the spray paint dried I dry brushed on some white paint and then later added some distress ink.

These little eggs were all neon yellowish/green (really horrid looking). I spray painted them cream and used a toothbrush to flick brown paint on them so they were speckled. Boy were my teeth brown when I brushed them that night! ha, ha. (I'm so lame)

I also made some cute little tags using rubber stamps, distress ink and ribbon. (the S is a scrapbook supply)

I love bunnies and deer!

I also made tags using scrapbook stickers and buttons.

So here's what I did with all those different eggs and tags!

My Valentines tree has now become an Easter tree!

I was able to make all of this spending zero dollars! I just used supplies I already had.

I will use the traditional pinks, purples and yellows of Spring in other parts of the house, but I thought it would be fun to decorate the tree with a vintage, aged look.
