DIY Patio table

Say "hello" to my new patio table. This was a BIG project for me. There were so many steps and they needed to be done outside. It has been really windy here so it took me forever to get it done.

This is my old patio table. I didn't like it because it was too matchy, matchy with my other patio furniture. I also hated having a glass top. It was filthy all the time and people didn't feel comfortable putting their feet up on  a glass table.

I found this metal table on Craigslist for $35.00. It came with a heavy glass top, but I told the man he could keep the top and sell it to someone else.

The color was an antique gold. This wasn't going to work for me. DIY time!

First I sprayed it with primer.

Next I sprayed it with white spray paint. Many, many light coats.

I wanted it to have a chippy look so I aged it with some charcoal paint. My patio is covered and it doesn't rain much here in Las Vegas so I think the paint should be fine.

In place of the glass I had a piece of thin wood cut to size by the hardware store. They didn't cut it perfectly so I had to sand it down with my power sander to make it fit. Then I "tiled" the top with some metal roofing tiles.

I attached them with Gorilla Glue.

I love the color of the tiles.

What do you think of the top? I love it!

She has some pretty legs too!

We've started using it right away as the weather here is so beautiful right now.

When I'm inside I can see her through the sliding glass door in my family room. I stare at her all the time. I'm like a table stalker. :)

I've been dreaming of my table all winter and am so happy that she's complete!
Next up....new side tables!
