Weighing Heavy

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation a few weeks back in Perdido Key FL with our extended family. We have enjoyed this vacation for the last 7 years. It is a tradition for us and I am thankful that we have been so blessed to have had a chance to make such wonderful memories that I hope our boys will cherish forever! I am however feeling like I am being tossed around wildly just like the waves of the ocean.

We go on one vacation a year and our top priority has always been to stay in places where the owners take much pride in offering to their guests a clean and well taken care of unit. Where they go out of their way to ensure that our stay is everything we hoped it to be and more. I am not saying that every unit we have stayed in has been perfect! One year the washer machine was on the fritz, another the guest sink leaked, and another the freezer went out on the fridge. All annoying yes but all were taken care of promptly even if the owners lived out of town. These things are to be expected in a rental unit. This we know and so we have never  gotten upset over them and have come to expect something occurring.

This was the year that we never would have ever imagined what greeted us upon arrival. We were expecting exactly what the owners claimed-

"Like No Other ******* Unit, Enjoy a Vacation of a Lifetime!"

The owners claim "No one else in ******* has put the time, effort or money that we have into this luxury unit.

This is just one example of the "luxury" that awaited us.

"Normal" wear and tear we have been told.

What was waiting for my in laws in their bathroom and yes the owners knew abt it before our arrival just as they knew of the broken lounger left on the balcony.

We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more to try and make this unit work for us. I was a nervous wreck!! I even feared bed bugs. Can anybody blame me? After an hour of cleaning we found this in the same bathroom that had the nasty stained shower curtain. I do not think I need to elaborate on what it is other than it was the last straw for us.

In my other post I went into great detail about this awful unit and the awful experience we are in the middle of. I decided that that was not necessary.  All I will say is that this unit was mis represented. We were told one thing by the owners Rep  for the owners only to go back and say something different. They refuse to speak to us personally and have threatened their Attorney on us if we are not satisfied with their decision of NOT refunding our money though we were told we would be receiving one.

I only share this with y'all as one, a way to try and find peace over this situation. Two in hopes of somebody maybe having any words of wisdom on what we should do. Three wondering if by chance anybody else out there happens to have had the same experience???

 My head is just swirling. I have lost sleep over this and my chest hurts just thinking about this mess. Seriously! We are talking several thousands of dollars here that we feel have been stolen from us. We just wanted to talk to the owner and come to a resolution with them personally. Nobody was winning here but we expected them to show us the respect we deserved and come to a resolution we both could live with. We don't feel that this is too much to ask but they refuse to speak to us personally or to even apologize for the condition of their unit. Their only contact with us directly was in the form of a letter which stated that this entire situation is OUR fault and that there was nothing wrong with their unit. It is being tossed around abt getting an attorney ourselves.

This is not the way to run a customer service based business. This was not the way to welcome somebody into your home and I would be MORTIFIED if any of my guests ever felt this betrayed.

I have thought abt leaving negative reviews on every site I can think of. One I found I can even leave pictures. Every time I go to hit submit though I have second thoughts. I keep telling myself that I need to continue to be  level headed and trust that in the end all will work out.  As you can see in my post I have *** out the name of the condo complex and left out the unit number intentionally. The Hubster thinks I should post them.

The owners of this unit should not be allowed to get away with this. In my heart I know this but at the same time I keep telling myself life is too short to get caught up in it all.  It will take awhile to recoup what was lost. That is no joke but is it really worth any more of our time, any more of our money, any more of our patience? That is a decision we have yet to make.

This all really does weigh heavy on my mind partly because we are not talking just our own personal money but we split the cost with my in laws so it is their money as well that has been lost and it brings tears to my eyes!
