Day trip to Brenham TX

Today we took a drive to the country to check out the blue bonnets in bloom.
This is something I have wanted to see my whole adult life!
I never dreamed I would be living in Texas, and there was no way I was going
to miss out on seeing them up close.

First stop on our little road trip was a tour of the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory.
It was very cool getting see marshmallows and nuts being mixed into Rocky Road  and watching ice cream sandwiches being packaged up.

And at the end of the tour you get free ice cream!

I had Blackberry Cobbler and it was sooooo yummy!
I will definitely be getting this again!

The had a really cute shop on the premises.
I have never seen knock off demi johns before today.
I was tempted to buy one but I just got myself a vintage one last weekend  for my birthday.

I wished the trophy was for sale, but it was just part of a display.

I almost took this sign with hooks home with me, but instead I bought my kid a
stupid toy which broke five minutes later.
(I'm not kidding)

Next we visited the Historic part of down town Brenham to do a little shopping.
My kids couldn't complain too much since they had bellies full of ice cream. :)

I really liked this cow sign at The Cottage...

and I liked this pig sign even more!
I was drawing a blank on where I would either one of them in my home so I left them at the store.

Beadboard  UpCountry had the most beautiful things,  I wasn't able to take any pictures inside though because it was pretty tight inside and I was watching my four year old like a hawk.

They did have this cute stool sitting outside the store though.

I was intrigued by old doors in front of this shop.
The kids were ready for lunch though so we had to move on.

I always love it when a town has charming murals on their walls.

When we stopped at the gas station to fill up the mini van there was this truck hauling a huge trailer full of  mommy and baby pigs!
They were making quite the racket!
The mama pigs were enormous and the babies were so cute!

A huge trailer full of pigs, but Levi gets excited about the dog in the back of the truck!
He cracks me up. :)

This lil one had such a sweet face and was such a pretty color.

Finally after lunch at Whataburger it was time to tip toe through the tulips blue bonnets.

See that little speck of a green t-shirt? That's Levi chasing butterflies.

Grant doing a whole "Little House On The Prairie" thing.

Here I am striking a Kim Kardashian pose.
My back side is getting a little too "Kim" if you know what I mean.
Time to step up the work outs!

My Grant is becoming a young man.....sigh.
He is such a great kid. I actually let him play hookie from school today.
Shhhhh, don't tell anybody!

My sweet lil handful. He really keeps me on my toes!
He also keeps me laughing all day long.

We saw fields full of cows all the way to Brenham.

The blue bonnets have a very light sweet scent.
I wonder if the cows think they taste good?

There are other wild flowers mixed in as well.

We really had a wonderful day!
