Last week I went to visit George & Martha. They were looking for a new home and I thought that our home would possibly be a good fit. After visiting with them I decided that they HAD to come and live with us.

Come on upstairs and meet George & Martha. |

Did you guess George & Martha Washington? George & Martha are Chromolithographed portraits by E. C. Middleton. Their previous owner had inherited them from her mother in law. She said that she has a house full of antiques and her children are not interested in any of them so she has started to sell things off. I scored George & Martha for just $50. |

Check out those eyes! The Hubster thinks they are creepy. |
|
They appear to be in their original frames and glass. |
|
Can you see the date on there? It says 1864! I could not believe that I had found portraits that are 149 years old. I can only imagine the stories they hold and the homes that they have hung in and now I have the honor of hanging them in ours. |

Martha is not in as good of shape as George but if you were almost 150 years old I am sure you would be a little rough around the edges as well. I was thinking of touching her frame up but after doing some research I have decided to leave her just as she is. |
