Adding Rustic Charm

From My Front Porch To Yours- New Corbels
I am constantly looking for ways to add rustic charm to our builder grade home without spending a whole lot of money.
From My Front Porch To Yours- New Corbels
A few years back I found these corbels at HomeGoods and had the perfect spot for them. I think they were 12.99 each.

Right away I framed our t.v. cabinet area in the living room with them. It just added a little something extra to the space and I was pleased with them.

Then I happened upon two of these! Where? Well can you guess!? Yep, HomeGoods!;) I tell ya it is a bad thing when you have a HomeGoods just ten minutes from your house.

At just $19.99 each they were meant to come home with me. Little investment=large impact.

I think they were just what this space needed to be complete, rustic charm and all. And yes, I k now they are hung upside down but I wanted to shorter end up so I could decorate on top of the armoire.

Speaking of rustic charm, over the weekend Mr. Front Porch and I started on a few DIY projects around here. I can't wait to share them with you! One I have been wanting to do for years. Can you guess what it is?

A Little Change

Happy April1st! I was trying to think of a funny April Fools Day joke for y'all but honestly I got nothing. So I am going to share a little change I did in our dining room instead.
When my mom was here we went shopping at HomeGoods of course. She doesn't have one so I always make sure to take her there when she comes. They have a Marshalls that has like one isle of decor. It may be a good thing she doesn't actually have a full HomeGoods!;)
While we were there I spotted this. Can you guess what it is?

If you guessed a table runner you would be correct. As soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect in our dining room.

I think it looks much better than the piece of scrap burlap I had there before. I just love the colors. They are so bright and springy but not overwhelming. If ya haven't seen our spring dining room yet be sure to click here for the tour.
Also don't forget this is the last week to join in on my Porch Party! There are already some fabulous entries so snap a pic of your porch and come back to party with us!
Hope your weekend is going well!

Just Giddy!

Between Yesterday and this morning I have been having awesome luck!
The boys and I went to HomeGoods yesterday after school and I was able to purchase a few of these damask print curtain panels. They have had them for the past few weeks and I looked at them every time I went in there. I just could not decide if I wanted them or not but yesterday since there were only a few left they had to come home with us. I have an idea in my head on what I want to do with them but you will have to just wait!;)

Then I was thrilled when we went down the linen isle and saw these french tea towel sets! I just loved them to pieces and actually purchased several of each.

Though both of those finds were great this mornings find beats them out by a land slide!! I have been trying to hunt down my next piece to refinish. I am VERY picky on what I purchase and also sometimes I am not quick enough to get pieces before others in the area get to them but this morning I was first in line! I am beyond giddy over this purchase!

Just look at this french desk!! I made the boys get dressed as fast as they could because the fella said he would not hold it for me for very long. You have never seen a gal slap on some clothes and make up so fast!

It even has a drawer! Now for whatever reason the seller wiped it down with some stain before hand. I know this because it was still VERY VERY tacky. When ya touch it the stain gets on your hands. I am hoping he decided to do that this morning before listing it and that it will dry soon. If not it will make my job of making it beautiful more complicated. I hate it when stain stays tacky!
Well worth the rush though. I was wanting to wait till after lunch to go and get it because I had a bloggy pal coming by to purchase something from me and thus I was  going to use that cash to buy the desk. Well instead I had to get a loan from Oldest!;) Thankfully he loves his mama and remembers that I float him cash from time to time so it all worked out.

So what are you up to this weekend?
Don't forget Treasure Hunt Thursday is still going on! Be sure to join in on the fun and link up your treasures or projects!

Late Valentines

Today I went shopping at HomeGoods which as y'all know is one of my all time favorite stores. I was shopping for The Hubster for my Valentines!;)
It is either hit or miss and well today it was a hit. I found and fabulous boxwood spiral topiary at an awesome price.

I also fell in love with this clock. I have seen them well over $60 but this one was just $25.

Then this mirror hopped in my cart after much debate. See this same styled mirror has come home with me on two other occasions but always ends up back at the store. This time though I have my plan all mapped out so its a keeper...I think!;) They had a round style as well. I think The Hubster did good for Valentines Day!;) Thanx Honey!

On another front I decided to snap out of my funk and work on a few projects. This chair has been in the garage for probably two years now. I have its sister in our master bath and just never knew what I was going to do with this one until now. I had to pull off the floor protectors that were nasty.

I am also in the middle of working on this farmhouse coffee table which is almost completed. I love it so much that I just might not be able to sell it after all. Can't wait to share its reveal.

And last but not least I finally decided what I wanted to do to spruce up the front porch. I literally have been in the middle of this project for like a month now. That grapevine has been giving me fits but I have a differ plan for it now that I am hoping will work.
Hope your week is going well y'all!
Don't forget to head over to Treasure Hunt Thursday! We would love to have ya party with us!

Treasures

I went shopping today. It has been awhile since I went shopping and actually purchased things. I have been trying to be really good and get only things that I HAVE to have and just can not live without. Well today HomeGoods was really bad for me!;)
Look at this awesome rustic tool caddy! As soon as I saw it things that had already hopped in my cart quickly hopped right back out. I knew this was a piece I HAD to have!;)

Next up I found this cute Guest Cottage wooden sign. The lettering is not quite the styling I was hoping for but I figured I would bring it home and try it out since I had been hunting for one for awhile now. I think it is a keeper. Wait till you see where I put it.

Next up I found this cute little plate rack and I say little because even though I thought it was big when I got it home it would not fit most of the dishes I had even the small ones. Hmmm, maybe why HomeGoods got them. I did though luck up and had some pretty little white plates that fit. I am still messing around with the decoration for it and the space it is in. I will share that soon as well.

Then the boys and I headed to look at these beauties that were posted on the local yard sale site. Needless to say they ended up coming home with me too!;) I told you today I did some serious shopping!;)

When I saw those precious pictures I had visions of them going here on the blank wall in the dining room but now I am torn. They would look fabulous going up our stairs with a mirror hanging in the middle as well. Decisions decisions! Also if anybody knows anything about those portraits please let me know. The gal who was selling them tried to research them as did I and we came up with nothing other than they are very old. The paper on the back of one was gone and on the other it was super thin and falling off from old age.

So there are my recent treasures. Be sure to share your treasures for Treasure Hunt Thursday!

Some more HomeGoods Loving

Every Friday after I pick the boys up from school I take them to Target so they can get a snack and then look around. It is kind like a tradition for us. Yesterday was pay day for me and so on the way to Target I figured it was as good of time as any to let the boys pick out their Halloween costumes. They were super excited an now I have Darth Vader and Annikin living at my house!:) Other than hearing "Mommy you are the best" I did have an ulterior motive-Mommy wanted to go to HomeGoods afterwards! Ha! Not one complaint was had because they were in a world of their own talking about their costumes all the way thru HomeGoods.

I found these awesome pedestal frames and have big plans for them so stay tuned! I actually need to go back and see if they still have the third one I put back.

Okay this one went against every grain in my body since it is just the beginning of Oct but I just could NOT resist! HomeGoods had just put out a TON of Christmas decor. This time of year is one of my faves at HomeGoods. There is always something there and yesterday was no exception.

I have always admired the Bethany Lowell houses but they are way beyond my penny pinching pocket so when the boys and I saw these cuties we spent 30 minutes looking at them all and trying to decide which ones we wanted. Of course they wanted to bring home all of them and really at just $10 a piece that was not a bad idea but I held back. The really neat thing is is that they are fiber optic so the windows light up and change colors. The boys just  LOVE them! Now I can not wait to start decorating for Christmas! Yes, I said it I can not wait!:)

Hope your weekend is going well!

Fall Mantel-An All Day Affair

Yep, The Fall Fairy decided to finally make a stop at our house! Let me tell you it was an all day affair! I was arranging things and thinking how I needed a few more things so I started digging thru all my stuff and forgot I had not one but two bins full of fall goodness in the pretty closet. Yes, I said pretty closet! We have his and hers closets and well mine is full of what my boys call my pretties!;) Some gals go for shoes I go for decor.

My fall mantel display was created pretty much with stuff I already had. This cute Autumn sign I got last year at HomeGoods.

I used the architectural piece bookends I purchased last month from HomeGoods to flank the wreath.

The wreath is the only new piece! I just could not pass it up when I saw it at yes, HomeGoods on Thursday! It hopped in my cart and refused to get out. I paid $40 for it and tried to reason myself out of it since I usually make my own wreaths but I was adding up what all was in the wreath and by the time I purchased all the garlands and picks I would have been pretty darn near that $40 in the first place even with it all on sale.

I needed some taller items on either side of the mirror so I pulled the topiaries down from the front door ledge and just stuck some fall leaves and a pumpkin in them. The shutters I just finished painting and were a gift from my mom. She got them at an estate sale. I have another set out in the garage that I am thinking of painting and selling.

And here is what took all day! I did it layer by layer and would get frustrated so I would walk away and come back to it. I am not one that can just throw stuff together in a flash. It always takes me some time to achieve the look I am going for.

Down on the hearth I pulled out my twigs I have had for years from Target and my candle sconce from a store called Illuminations that sadly closed up shop. It was divine! The only light in the entire store was by candles!

For the lantern I just threw some picks on top with raffia ribbon.

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. This is the first year to decorate for the seasons with the new fireplace surround and flooring! And yes that is blue painters tape you are seeing! I am still working on caulking and repainting the baseboards!;)

The Fall Fairy is not done and has left a few messes along the way. The dining room is still in progress as well as the landing and as soon as I get the trim painted behind the tv cabinet I need to decorate the top of it so there will be plenty of fall yumminess yet to come!

Speaking of yumminess!! You MUST go out and get these tart warmers from WM! They are beyond yummy and our entire house smells delicious!
Hope your weekend is going well and thanx for stopping by!
