When I decided I wanted to have a woodland themed Christmas tree this year I didn't want to spend a fortune buying all new ornaments.
Here is how I went about putting together a woodland tree without spending a lot of money.
I found these adorable tags at the 99 cents store.
There were four different designs in one package and each pack had tons of tags in it...all for 99 cents!
These unfinished birdhouses were only $1.00.
They aren't tiny either. They are about as tall as my hand.
I spray painted the top and bottom red and them painted the middle to give it a faux bois look.
I knew I wanted some cute woodland animals on my tree and I found these cute fox and owls.
But the colors weren't right for Christmas.
I started pulling off the orange fur, but then it ended up being glued pretty good in the middle so I used a steak knife and sawed it off!
I used it as a template and cut out red fur and a gray scarf and glued them on.
I think these were only $1.49 plus .29 each for the red and gray felt.
The owls were done the same way as the foxes.
The unfinished reindeer were $1.00.
I painted them with red acrylic paint and after it dried I sanded down the edges for a rustic look.
I then used some black wax to give it even more of a rustic look.
I love this owl with his cute plaid belly.
He was 1/2 off at Kirkland's, so only $2.50.
I already had a trio of birds nests so I just tucked them into the branches.
I got these mushrooms from Lowe's at an after Christmas sale last year.
They were 70% off and practically giving them away.
I also got the acorns, pine cones and deer at Lowe's after Christmas sale last year.
They were also marked down 70 %.
I bought several springs of faux berries from Michael's when they were half off so they were
less than a dollar a piece.
Here is a link for my woodland tree if you want to see the whole thing.
My son and I are both sick. I would appreciate it if you would pray we are better by Christmas!
Thank you!
