Something I love about Christmas time is making time for crafting.
I made the Christmas sign while watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with my kids.
Classic!
Last year I found this deer head at an after Christmas sale.
I had been wanting one for a long time and was very excited when I was able to find one for half off.
The glitter wasn't the look I wanted though.
I tried and tried to get all the glitter off, but this was the best I could do.
I wasn't sure about painting on top of the glitter that was still on the piece so I decided to cover the whole deer with pieces of crumpled up tissue paper using Modge Podge.
The poor deer, he looks so awful in this picture.
I painted the "shield" behind the deer with charcoal colored paint, the deer head with gray paint and then applied a white wash over the gray to highlight the texture from the tissue paper.
I love him!
I love him!
For my next project I took a piece of old broken fence slat from my garage and turned it into a sign.
I had some puffy letter stickers I stuck onto the wood and used a tiny paint brush to
outline the letters.
I then removed the stickers and filled the letters in with white paint.
When my husband saw me crafting with an old fence board he kept teasing me that we're going to have
"a red neck Christmas!"
"a red neck Christmas!"
Ha, ha, honey.
Well I do love me some Duck Dynasty!
The sign looks crooked in this photo but it is not, I even used a level when I hung it up.
I think the deer was probably crooked.
I used Command Strips to hang it and the darn guy keeps falling off of the wall!

I found the cutest pillow this year.
It has such a pretty reindeer on it and the fabric is similar to a grain sack.
I think I need to add some Christmas greenery to liven things up a bit.
Hopefully we'll get our tree this weekend and I'll add some greenery from trimming the tree.
p.s. If you'd like to know how I turned the French buffet into a TV stand click here.
